Top 5 RallyCats Bus Trips

Rally Cats

Over the years the RallyCats has had the opportunity to travel all across the country to cheer on the Bearcats. The RCBT's (RallyCats Bus Trips) have become one of our biggest traditions. With our Philadelphia trip departing this evening, we thought we would recap the top 5 RallyCats Bus Trips of recent memory.

5) Pittsburgh, PennsylvaniaFall 2011

Sport: Football

Opponent: Pittsburgh Panthers

Attendance: 54 Students

Result: Bearcats 26 – Panthers 23

The Bearcats were heading back to Pittsburgh for the first time since the famous Pike-to-Binns touchdown in 2009. 54 RallyCats departed campus the morning of November 5th. After checking into the hotel, the group made their way to Heinz Field. The game was back and forth throughout the first 3 quarters. Early in the 4th, Tony Miliano drilled a 41-yard field goal which put the Bearcats ahead for good. It was a fantastic weekend and the final River City Rivalry played in Pittsburgh belonged to the Bearcats.

4) Brooklyn, New YorkFall 2015

Sport: Basketball

Opponents: Nebraska Cornhuskers & George Washington

Attendance: 108 Students

Results: Cincinnati 65 – Nebraska 61 Cincinnati 61 – George Washington 56

108 students and the Bearcat Bands traveled to Brooklyn for the 2015 Barclays Center Classic.  Throughout the weekend the team fed off of the energy from the crowd.  On Friday the Bearcats defeated Nebraska in the first round of the tournament.  On Saturday the Bearcats defeated George Washington in the Championship Game on Saturday.  After the championship game the team joined in with a round of Down the Drive before the team and Coach Cronin thanked us for making the trip.

3) New Orleans, LouisianaSpring 2015

Sport: Basketball

Opponent: Tulane Green Wave

Attendance: 108 Students

Result: Cincinnati 63 – Tulane 47

The game may have been played 809 miles from Cincinnati, but it was by no means an away game. Devlin Fieldhouse seats 4,100, but 108 RallyCats took over that arena from the moment we arrived. Social Media erupted as Down the Drive rang through the broadcast. The announcers praised our efforts with their comment, “This isn’t Fifth Third Arena, but it sure sounds like it!”

The Bearcats dominated every part of the game and the players fed off the energy. In attendance at that game was a Bearcats recruit named Jacob Evans. Evans made his way over to our section early in the 1st half and stayed the entire game. He cheered with us. He booed with us. He sang the alma mater with us.

2) Washington, DCFall 2012

Sport: Football

Opponent: Virginia Tech Hokies

Attendance: 108 Students

Result: Cincinnati 27 – Virginia Tech 24

Who could forget this game? The Bearcats were traveling to Landover, Maryland for a “home game” against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field. The Hokies scored the go-ahead touchdown with less than two minutes remaining in the game. With the Bearcats trailing 24-20, Quarterback Munchie Legaux led the Bearcats down the field. On 3rd and 10 with 20 seconds remaining... this happened:

The Monday after the game, RallyCats received a letter from head coach Butch Jones thanking us for making the trip to DC.

"When I hear RallyCats, I immediately sense the passion, pride and leadership that you display." -Butch Jones

Hands down, this was the best game RallyCats has ever traveled to.

AND FINALLY...

1) Miami, Florida Fall 2014

Sport: Football

Opponent: Miami Hurricanes

Attendance: 210 Students

Result: Not relevant

Our longest bus trip. Our largest bus trip. Sold out in less than 7 minutes. #BearcatsInSouthBeach was one for the ages.

The plan was to take 108 students to Miami over Fall Break for the Bearcats matchup with the Hurricanes. However, a malfunction in the ticket office caused 210 tickets to be sold. With the help of Athletics and Student Government we were able to accommodate all 210 students for the 4-day, 2-night trip to South Beach!

On Friday all 210 students filled the beach for the entire day.  With the Bearcats and City of Cincinnati flags flying high we enjoyed a beautiful day on the beach.  We enjoyed cornhole, spikeball, and much, much more.  The result of the game on Saturday wasn’t what we had hoped for but that didn’t matter.  These trips are about much more than wins or losses.  They are about celebrating our love for the University of Cincinnati and the Bearcats.

*Honorable Mention – Tampa, FloridaSpring 2016

Sport: Basketball

Opponent: South Florida Bulls

Attendance: 25 Students

Result: Cincinnati 54 – South Florida 51

This wasn’t a RallyCats bus trip. In fact, it wasn’t a bus trip at all. RallyCats got to opportunity to travel with the basketball team to Tampa for their matchup with the Bulls. We got to interact with the players and many alumni on our two-day trip. It was an amazing experience for everyone who was lucky enough to attend.

This trip was one of the many perks you get for being in RallyCats.
